The Wilshire/Western portal canopy uses a modular design to streamline construction while maintaining durability and clarity. As the first rollout of LACMTA’s Kit-of-Parts system, it set a precedent for efficient, repeatable transit infrastructure. Located in one of Los Angeles’ most vibrant corridors, the canopy provides shelter while preserving openness, enhancing the commuter experience. The work focused on refining its form to integrate seamlessly into the expanding D Line network.
